Poor Reliance service irks mobile, internet users in Kupwara | | | Early Times Report
KUPWARA, Mar 3: Poor services of telecom company Reliance have irked mobile subscribers in this North Kashmir district. The subscribers say that even under the very nose of Reliance towers in the town, they are unable to make or receive calls. The Reliance Internet service is no better. The subscribers said that either internet speed is slow or the service does not work most of the times. They said that despite repeated requests to the concerned officials in the town, the service has not been improved. "The service is so poor that we are not able to make or receive calls even under the same roof. We shall surrender the SIM cards if the company did not improve its services," said Rouf Mir , a mobile user. Fayaz Ahmad, a shopkeeper said that the voice message 'Subscriber is not reachable' is often heard, when one attempts to make a call. He said that even right near a mobile tower, the cell phone flashes 'no network coverage' on its screen. Many other subscribers said that the mobile towers disappear from the mobile screens for hours or a full day and 'Network busy' is often displayed when they attempt to make calls. "The coverage mode often disappears for hours together leaving subscribers high and dry. The service is so erratic that one has to make many attempts to make a call," said Javid Ahmad. Some other subscribers complained that cross-connections often embarrass them. "The mobile towers go down when the electricity supply is snapped. The employees do not run the generators for continuous mobile signal. Cross-connections have become a routine matter with Reliance in the district," said Shaheena. |
