Rains create havoc in Rajouri | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Mar 3: Incessant rains followed by heavy snowfall in Pir Panjal Mountain ranges have forced the authorities to close Rajouri-Bafliaz-Poonch road due to heavy snowfall at Dera-Ki-Gali and in its vicinity. Some locals have been shifted to safer places in view of the threat to houses coming under heavy rains. According to reports, a landslide at Kewl near Budhal town on Rajouri-Reasi district road has also forced the tehsil administration to stop vehicular movement for more than 3 hours till 1 pm today while Rajouri-Bafliaz-Poonch road too was closed to normal traffic following heavy snowfall at Dera Ki Gali (DKG) and its surrounding areas. "Land slide followed by torrential rains triggered landslides blocking the road near village Kewal Trud and after hectic efforts by the locals with the help of police and GREF personnel the road was cleared for traffic at about 1.30 pm" said Promodh Bajju, SHO , Budhal. He also added that three houses belonging to namely Bashir Ahmed s/o Ali Mohammed, Khuda Dar s/o Resha and his son Mushtaq Ahmed also came under the threat of land sliding and thus these families have been precautionary shifted to another nearby house of one Bashir Ahmed. Here it needs to mention that recent rains and heavy snowfall in upper reaches in the district have brought the minimum temperature to 4-5 degree Celsius. |
