People feel winds of change blowing after Mufti takes over | | | Shakeel A Khan
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Mar 8: The change of the government in the state appears to have set the tune in the right direction as everybody seems to be absorbed with the head down. The 'winds of change' that are blowing now has convinced all, if not the jealous one. The decision making power that was missing in the Omar led government, has been displayed by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed immediately after coming to the power. Mufti seems to be in good touch like he was in 2002 when he for the first time formed the government in the state. "Be it the police department or any other department, Mufti has passed on strict instructions so that the people feel relieved for which they had long cherished. The new government has made a good impact from the day one," said Mukhtar Ahmad from Srinagar. Mukhtar said that the performance of the government departments has picked up. He said that traffic police personnel who were missing from the roads till yesterday can be seen manning the traffic with the sense of responsibility. The rehabilitation of the flood affected persons, who remained to be unattended for the last six months are being paid due attention by the new government. The flood affected people think that something good is going to happen to them. "The floods did large scale damage in the valley but what hurt us more was the attitude of the previous government. But the cabinet sub-committee formed by the new government is going to meet us. It has brought some joy to us at last," said Mohammad Irfan from Qamarwari. Irfan said the various initiatives taken by the new government to address the problems of the flood affected have come as a boost. He said the PDP-BJP government seems to be bothered more about the commoners than the influential. Sensing the different attitude of the new government, the police department has also begun to do its real services. The police department has solved theft cases putting the criminals behind the bars, much to the delight of the people. "It is only a within a week time that the police department solved many cases of burglary. The police managed to crack the burglary cases giving a sense of security to the people across the valley," said some people from Budgam. Syed Aasif, a resident of Budgam said that it seems that the government machinery is run by the right hands this time. He exuded confidence that the state will experience healthy changes in the days to come. |
