Release of Masrat Alam is not humanitarian step: Dehlavi

Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 8: Anjuman Minhaj-e-Rasool Chairman Maulana Syed Athar Dehlavi today said the release of separatist leader Masrat Alam was not a humanitarian step. ''The PDP-BJP beginning is not an indication of 'achhe din' and the release of brain ((Masrat Alam)) behind 2010 Kashmir situation, in which 120 people were killed on the directions of the government, is not humanitarian and in the interest of the state,'' Dehlavi told media persons here this morning.
He was here in the town after conducting tour of Rajouri-Poonch belts. ''It is a matter of security concern of the country,'' he said, adding that rather than focussing on Pakistan, Hurriyat and anti-nationals, the present PDP-BJP government should focus on the development of the state. Dehlavi said, ''Jammu and Kashmir have seen tough timeslike 2010 situation, floods, corruption and now the government should think for the welfare of the people, development of the regions.'' ''Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now more responsibilities on its shoulders,'' he said, adding that people of Jammu and Kashmir have been befooled in the name of AFSPA and Article 370. ''It is unfortunate that there is yet no reaction from the Prime Minister on PDPs demand of returning mortal remains of Afzal Guru and release of Masrat Alam,'' he added. He added that both the BJP and PDP were not focussing on the development but flaring up the sentiments of the people by such issues. He, however, demanded that a debate be held in Parliament on the release of Masrat Alam and the Houses pass a resolution and condemn it.
