NPP calls for 'bandh' in Jammu over Masrat Alam's release 3/9/2015 12:23:26 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 8: National Panthers Party (NPP) chief Bhim Singh on Sunday said that the party has called for a 'bandh' in Jammu following the release of hard-line-faction of Hurriyat, Masrat Alam from Baramulla prison. "This is not only about Masrat Ali. It's a question of policy and attitude of the government. It is shameful. The Panthers Party has called for a 'bandh' in Jammu today and tomorrow. This movement will go on till this RSS-PDP government is out," Singh said. "Now, the people in J&K also know that they have been cheated badly. What happened to the refugee problems, youth problem? If this government will stay it is nothing more than dangerous," he added. Earlier on Saturday, BJP workers staged a protest against the release of Hurriyat leader Mashrat Alam from prison. Alam was released from Baramulla prison following the new government's policy to free political prisoners who do not face criminal charges. Alam is the chairman of Muslim League, a constituent of hard-line Hurriyat Conference led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani and is widely seen as the latter's successor.
