PHE CP workers on indefinite strike in Kathua | | | Early Times Report
KATHUA, May 20: The water supply in entire Kathua city remained affected today as a large number of CP Workers of Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department today staged protest demonstration in the premises of the office of Executive Engineer PHE. Raising slogans "No salary, No Water", the agitating CP workers led by Sandip Kumar demanded 24 months' pending salary. While addressing the protesters, Kumar said that CP workers have not received salary since May 2013 which has severely affected their livelihood. He said hundreds of CP Workers perform their duties with low wages of Rs 3175 per month but even that meager amount has not been provided for the last 24 months. Speaking on the occasion Kuldeep said the strike would continue till assurance on paper. He said CP workers submitted memorandum to Executive Engineer PHE Kathua and District Development Commissioner Kathua few months back who assured to release their salary within weeks but three months have gone and not even a single penny was given due to which theire families are on the verge of starvation. |
