| Baramulla Social Welfare Scams: Minister seeks report within two days | | ET Impact | | Javaid Naikoo

Srinagar, May 20: Acting tough on the reports of huge bungling in implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in Social Welfare Department of Baramullah, Minister of state (MoS) for Social Welfare has directed officials concerned to inquire into the matter and submit the report within two days.
After Early Times in last two days exposed massive scams in centrally sponsored Schemes' in Social Welfare Department of North Kashmir's Baramulla District, MOS for Social welfare, Asiya Naqash who had yesterday assured strict Action against all those p involved in loot today stressed upon concerned officials to probe the matter within two days and punish the guilty.
Talking to Early Times, Asiya Naqash said that 'After reaching office today, on priority I asked Concerned officials to confirm details about the same from officials of Baramulla District and asked them to look in to the matter with utmost care and submit their report within two days. I will see the report and will take further steps in this regard".
She said that she has also set 25 May, 2015 as deadline for all District level officials to weed out all fake cases framed during the tenure of previous government and also submit reports regarding the same in her office, so that steps could be taken to overhaul the rusted system on modern lines and provide benefits of different centrally sponsored schemes to needy people. Pertinently, Early Times in last two days exposed many scams in Social Welfare Department of Tehsil Pattan of Baramulla. These include fake accounts by blued eyed people in league with concerned officials to receive monthly allowances under different centrally sponsored schemes like old age pension ,widow fund and monthly allowances under militancy related victim Schemes.
The details reveal that many influential people of villages like Badibug, Kanterbug and Archandrama in nexus with concerned officials of the Department of Social welfare had opened dozens of fake accounts over the years and till date continued to receive monthly allowances under different schemes with all impunity.
District Social Welfare officer Baramulla, Dr Zubair Ahmad informed Early Times that a committee of six officials of social Welfare Department of Baramullah was framed today and he himself shall Monitor the inquiry Process and Punish the guilty soon after inquiry report is submitted in his office.
Pertinently misuse of funds sanctioned to the state government under different centrally sponsored schemes has furnished in many other department as well over the years without any check. |
