6th standard kid gives Lal right, left and centre | | | Arun Trisal Early Times Report kathua, May 20: A 6th standard student has shaken the administration with his remark. "A miserable person can only yell on a person who has been representing the Basohli constituency for 25 years. He ignores the sufferings of the people and makes them dream of development." The kid, Jatinder Singh apparently referring to Chowdhary Lal Singh caused a stir by projecting a horrifying picture of the constituency. The village Kainta falls under Panchayat Basantpur, Assembly constituency Basohli, district Kathua where people are fed up of Ch. Lal Singh's inaction during his three terms as MLA and two terms as MP. The people this time voted for him due to Modi wave. The Rural Development department started a project for construction of a road with estimated cost of Rs 4.45 lacs in 2012-13 financial years. Ironically, funds had been released but could not be utilized for the construction of road from Dukhuaka to Kainta and rest of the villages. Bad road connectivity brought several obstacles in other development works in the Panchayat including medical facility, PHE Water supply, Power supply, educational institution and women security. Varun Kumar a local said people never see vehicular service in the villages due to lack of even temporary roads. He said people walk several miles through ditches and gorges. "There are 700 houses in the distance of 15 km from Basohli road that suffer due to bad road connectivity,' he said adding that villages deprive off another basic amenities. He said MLA Basohli & health Minister Ch Lal Singh makes false promises to people as nothing has been done till date for the development of 15 villages which fall under his constituency. Madhu Devi, a school teacher said girls including minor students travel several miles to reach schools. She said sometimes women & young girls travel several miles in wilderness place that would be alarming bell for women security. She said villages deprive off toilet facility too but despite having knowledge of all these suffering of the villagers, Ch Lal Singh visited during election campaigns but never face towards area after that. Pitamber Dass, an adult, has lost his wife due to lack of medical facility in the village. He wept out before media when narrating the incident of his wife's death. He said the villagers tried to save his wife after snake bite but could not save due to lack of medical facility and bad road connectivity. Pritam Singh, an elder man, said villages have not changed since independence. He said health Minister approaches people only during elections but forgets the people soon after. He appealed the government to take serious step for the welfare of villages and to mitigate their sufferings. Prem Chand, Leela Devi, Davinder Singh, Prem Chand and many other villagers had similar views to share. |
