jammu, May 20: It may sound like a flimsy jargon but that is what is in circulation as a favourite gossip within state unit of BJP these days. 'If you have Singh as suffixed as second name or have Singh as one of your closest associates in party ranks, you are certainly the king now a days……'. The chatter around these lines has ripened lately , the rhyme of which gossipers are giving albeit giving on some ground, no matter it may be just a matter of coincidence for certain developments.
There is an interesting background that explains this piece:
BJP in its early days , after gaining some edge in Jammu used to be associated with a particular business community, given their increasing affiliation and association with the party . For years it would in lighter vein be referred to as -' Lalon Ki party..', implying top business guns have complete hold in the party and those at the helm or key functionaries belong to Mahajan community. This tag was seen until recent times when stalwarts like Prof Chaman Lal Gupta would call shots and used to command good respect and say in the party matters. But with waning of influence of Prof Gupta and his likes in the party, this tag also appeared to have gone into oblivion, no matter things happened on those lines unintentionally, say the insiders.
However, post LS polls and Assembly elections, a whole new dimension emerged as to rise of entire new crop and the influence they wield in party matters, few of them of course by dint of their hardwork and capabilities which clinched them success. Without casting aspersions on any community or caste, the party cadres and even senior leaders are now seeing things going in favour of those having Singh associated with their names…again of course an unintended or inadvertent phenomenon that has taken place, which many see as a matter of coincidence . "Almost all the leaders who have risen to power positions have Singh as their second name…from one of the popular ministers in centre to one MP and back home our Deputy Chief Minister….", said a BJP leader in lighter vein, trying to explain the rationale behind this gossip.
Now what has added spice to this jargon are the developments that took place just few days back. One of the members with Singh as suffixed name again elevated to the prestigious post in Kissan Advisory Board and only two days back one Professor from JU appointed as PSC member. Both are said to be having proximity to Deputy Chief Minister's family, no matter they have their own strong credentials that may have earned these posts to them. |
