19 month on, JKPSC fails to fill up 33 posts of AE Mech in R&B | | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report jammu, May 20: Exposing tall claims of fast track recruitment by successive government, the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission has failed to fill up the vacant posts of Assistant Engineers Mechanical in Roads and Building Department referred to JKPSC, the advertisement of which was published in various dailies of the state in the year 2013. As per the details available with "Early Times", Public Works (R&B) Department vide their communication No. PW(R&B)/HRM/36/2013 dated 04-09-2013 referred 33 posts of Assistant Engineer (Mechanical) to the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) for selection of eligible/suitable candidates against these posts. On the basis of the communication from R&B Department, JKPSC advertised 33 posts of AE Mechanical in R & B department vide advertisement notification No. 19-PSC (DR-P) of 2013 dated 15-10-2013 wherein JKPSC invited applications on prescribed format from the permanent residence of Jammu and Kashmir possessing the prescribed qualification. Among the 33 advertised posts, 5 posts were reserved for for Residents of Backward Area, 3 posts for Scheduled Castes, 2 posts for Scheduled Tribe, 1 post for resident of Actual Line of Control and 1 post for SLC category, leaving 18 posts in open category. In response to the advertisement, JKPSC received 1418 applications of which 1416 applicants were found to be genuine after scrutinizing of the relevant documents, but till date even after 19 months of the advertisement, JKPSC failed to complete the selection as a result of which the job aspirants who had applied for these advertised posts were subjected to unnecessary harassment. While talking to "Early Times" many aspirants slammed the officials of the Public Service Commission for their failure to complete the selection process which is pending since last over 19 months. "19 months is too long for completion of any selection process-the responsibility should be fixed on the non performers who are playing with the sentiments of unemployed youth who are already facing dearth of jobs, both in government as well as in private sector in state of Jammu and Kashmir" said job aspirant, adding that there is a need to fix the time frame of not more than 6 months for completion of selection process. Another aspirant said that JKPSC as well as JKSSRB have failed to rise to the expectation as many posts referred to the two prime recruiting agencies of the state by the government are yet to be filled up. Many job aspirants applied for AE Mechanical posts have already crossed the upper age limit. They urged upon the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to issue directions to JKPSC to complete the selection process in next two to three months so that the job aspirants who had applied for these posts do not suffered any further. |
