Early Times Report
Kishtwar, June 10: Aiming to strengthen the party before the Municipality elections in the state, on Wednesday Congress dissolved committees in the district and block levels of Kishtwar with immediate effect.
The decision was taken in a meeting held in Kishtwar which was chaired by Jammu and Kashmir Pardesh Congress Committee Chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir.
Prominent among those Vice President JKPCC, Ghulam Mohammad Saroori, Gulzar Ahmed Wani (MLA), Thakur Balbir Singh (Ex-MLA), MLC Naresh Gupta, MLC Sham Lal Bhagat, Ashok Dogra (Ex-MLA), Anayatullah Rather and others were present.
While addressing the party workers, Mir said that DCC and BCC would be reconstituted after the completion of membership drive in the district. He said that a new committee would be formed through an electoral process within a month time. Till the reconstitution work is completed, the district in-charge of membership campaign will take care of the party's day to day work.
Mir said that there is need to reconstitute the committees because the performance of many of its office-bearers was below expectation. Party leaders who have performed well will be recalled in the reconstituted committees.
He stressed upon all the workers to take active part in the membership drive in order to strengthen the party at grass root level. He also expressed that only dedicated, honest and hard workers be elected in the Congress committees either at PCC, districts or block levels.
Mir expressed satisfaction that people in every nook and corner of the State are coming forward to join the Party for overall development of the State and the people. "Congress Party is duty bound to serve the people and work for their well being", he said. The PCC Chief exhorted the party to workers to move ahead with membership drive and make it a big success.
