More than two dozen passengers have miraculous escape as SRTC bus meets minor accident | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, June 10: More than 30 people who were on board an SRTC bus had a miraculous escape near Kandi some 15 kilometres from here on Jammu-Kishtwar National Highway. As per the details available with Early Times State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) bus bearing registration No. 378 started its journey from Doda to Kishtwar at around 3 PM today. Near Kandi, the driver lost control over the vehicle due to jamming of bus steering. As a result of this the bus skidded off the road. Luckily the bus did not fell into the mighty river Chenab with only minor injuries to over half dozen passengers. Talking to Early Times the passengers of the bus said that after starting its journey from Doda, the passengers after suspecting the fitness of the vehicle informed the driver that bus is making noisy sound which indicates that it has develop some technical snag. They said the driver of the vehicle did not listen to them. "After reaching Thatri, the driver of the bus handed over the reign to another driver who proceeds for onward journey towards Kishtwar. As soon as the bus left the Thatri, it again started threatening and ultimately met with an accident although a minor one," said the passengers. Reports said that the driver of the bus tried best to control the bus, but he failed to do so. The passengers could not believe their luck that they are safe. The bus was jam packed and children and women started crying and few people also jumped from the vehicle. Many passengers are traumatized and they blamed the SRTC management for their failure in check the fitness of the vehicle on time and thus putting the lives of innocent people at risk. |
