JAMMU, June 10: Police have registered 12 FIRs against the youth for creating trouble at Satwari and in other city areas after cops had removed the posters of Jarnail Singh Bhinderwale.
Seven of these FIRs are registered at Satwari police station, three at Gandhi Nagar police station and two at Trikuta Nagar police station. One FIR is registered against a cop for opening fire on the protesters near Satwari, resulting in the instant death of Sikh youth Jagjit Singh.
After Jagjit's death, Satwarti and at least half a dozen areas in its vicinity, all dominated by Sikhs, were put under curfew. The matter was, however, sorted out in a meeting of Sikh representatives with the representatives of Sikh community. In the meeting, it was agreed by police to release all those who were rounded up by them during violent protests. They were released but police have decided to book the protesters who had created the trouble The. SSP, Jammu, was transferred and SHO of Satwari police station was attached on the demand of Sikh leaders.
