Kotranka people protest over encroaching of a local 'graveyard' | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, June 10: Inhabitants of many remote villages in Kotranka tehsil in Rajouri district has resented the efforts of some people who have been encroaching land of grave yards in some villages. They also said that at most of the places the grave yards are without boundary walls and stray animals have damaged many graves and the process is continue while some vested interest elements have encroached the grave yard land. Mohd Liyakat, chairman Panchyats, Nazer Shah, naib sarpanch and many others have appealed to the Wakaf Board to provide financial assistance to the panchyat members so that at least mortal remains of the deceased persons may be saved. Meanwhile Mazahar Shah and Navi Shah alleged that the live stock of one Manzoor Shah who is living in the vicinity of grave yard in village Targain, mostly graze in the grave yard and the animals have damaged many graves. "Not only the animal damaged the graves but Manzoor himself have encroached the grave yard land and now asking the people to shift the bodies of their kin to other grave yards as the land belong to him" said Mohd Liyakat. Agitated people have appealed to the tehsil administration to take action against Manzoor Shah and direct him not to interfere in the Grave yard and also appealed to the Wakaf Board officials to release funds so the boundary wall shall be constructed to save it (graveyard) from further damage. |
