Local festivals promote harmony: Yudhvir | Attends Dhamdeh celebrations | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 15: Highlighting role of local festivals in promoting mutual brotherhood, Senior BJP Leader Yudhvir Sethi said that Dogra culture is famous for its unique rituals and festivals and harmony with which people from different faiths come together in celebrations is a hallmark of the society. "Ours is a land of different religions and faiths and joint celebrations promote mutual co-existence and amity," he added. He said this while attending Dhamdeh Langer which was organised by the Centre Basic School Bazaar Association, here today. The local festival of Dhamdeh is very famous in the region and special langars and chabeels are organised to celebrate the day. Later, Yudhvir also attended Dhamdeh functions organised by Upper Jain Bazaar Traders Association and Circular Road Resident Association. Prominent among those who were present include, Arun Sethi, Pankaj Verma and Kaka Pradhan. While addressing gatherings on the occasion, Yudhvir said the festival is celebrated on Ashadh Sankranti and people donate among needy on the day. |
