Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, June 15: Hoisting of Pakistani flags and more so of ISIS has prompted the administration to take a tough stance against the elements, who are hell bent to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the state, particularly that of the summer capital.
Sources told Early Times that the crackdown has been started on the elements which are responsible for hoisting the Pakistani flags and that of ISIS. Police has picked up around a dozen of youth for investigations into the serious matter, said the sources. As per the sources, the process of identification of the trouble makers has been completed and some 15 arrests have been made so far. Police are conducting the raids to arrest five more youth, who are evading their arrests, said the sources. The historic Jamia Masjid of Srinagar, where thousands of people come to offer the Friday prayers, remains a cause of concern for the administration, which often witnesses post prayers protests. It has become flash point, which often witnesses the flag hoisting, said the sources. As per the sources, nobody will be allowed to hoist Pakistani flags or that of ISIS henceforth, for which the administration has taken all the required measures.
"Police has devised a mechanism so that these anti-social elements are properly taken care of. In the coming days, more so on the Fridays, there will be no flag hoisting. These elements will not be allowed to implement their nefarious designs," said the sources.
As per the sources, police has ascertained the identity of those people who hoisted flags on the Friday last in the Nowhatta area of Srinagar, and as a result of that many arrests have been made so for with many more expected.
As per the sources, the administration has decided to deploy heavy contingents of police and paramilitary forces so that the incidents of flag hoisting are not repeated. The administration has also decided to deploy the people from CID in civvies to make the mission a success, said the sources. "The purpose behind this deployment is to ensure on the spot arrest of the flag hoisters and put them behind the bars. Enough is enough, these anti-social elements can't be given more free hand now," said the sources.
As per the sources, the police has decided to install high tech CCTV cameras in the down town area of Srinagar to put a complete check on the stone pelting menace. In the coming days, the activities of flag hoisting and stone pelting will come down, claimed the sources.
