Citizen's Forum demands financial debt relief for widows | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 15: Citizen's Forum appealed Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to think about the widows of Jammu and Kashmir who are being harassed by the bankers for recovery of their loans given to these ladies for various small home scale jobs like loan for buffaloes, cows and poultry farming etc. "Successive governments didn't ever bother to look after their miserable conditions when even the big entrepreneurs in this field made it difficult to run this kind of business. The poor widows who are getting lesser amount as pension of Rs. 250 per month tried to run RBI scheme but lost much more than what they could earn from this small business", the forum alleged. The forum members said that the animal died because of diseases and the widows were sans money for the medicine but the interest and installments stood piling in their loan accounts. Notices of recovery are regularly being sent to them by hand, through bank couriers personally to harass them in their locality. Citizens Forum appealed Finance Minister Hasseeb Draboo that specific package should be announced for one time waiving of Kissan Credit card borrowers, or revival or restoration of livelihood, reconstruction of public infrastructure, revival of business, rebuilding of flood management system and redeveloping J&K as the sustainable state. |
