New Delhi, June 15: In a midnight short circuit fire accident, 14 new born babies were saved by timely action of Nursing Staff on duty at Base Hospital, Delhi on 13 June 2015. According to defence spokesman, a fire broke out at 1 am in the Neonatal ICU where five infants were on ventilators and nine in extension NICU. "The members of Military Nursing Staff on duty, Captain Anjana Kumari and Lieutenant Sudipa Gurung reacted to the situation and evacuated all the children immediately after disconnecting the power supply. Their presence of mind and swift action resulted in saving all the critically ill newborns", he said, adding that Quick Reaction Medical Team reached the spot immediately and controlled the fire situation. "Fire tenders and help from other wards also reached the spot and assisted in controlling the fire in time", he added. |
