DB directs Chairman SSRB to pay compensation of Rs 40,000 each in two cases | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 15: In another case taking serious note over callous approach of Service Selection Board, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur in two different cases, directed SSRB to pay compensation of Rs 40,000 each to the petitioners. These significant directions have been passed in two different contempt petition filed by Ranu Kumari Bhat and Pamposh Kumari Pandita and another for non-compliance of the directions dated 31.12.2007 upheld by the Division Bench vide judgment dated 10.12.2010 passed in. Special Leave Petition preferred against the judgment of the Division Bench before the Supreme Court also stands dismissed on 12.08.2011 regarding appointments of the petitioners for the post of teachers. Division Bench observed that when the matter was listed on 08.06.2015, learned counsel appearing for respondent No.1 sought time to report compliance and the matter was directed to be posted on 10.06.2015, when this matter again listed, the counsel appearing for the Board seeks further time to comply with the directions of this Court. Division Bench after Considering the said submission, two weeks time is granted to report compliance and for the delay in implementing the order of this Court for the past over four years when the matter was concluded by the Supreme Court, the 1st respondent is directed to pay compensation of Rs.10,000/- for each year totaling an amount of Rs.40,000/- (forty thousand) in each case i.e. 80,000. The said amount is to be paid to the petitioners' alongwith order to be passed in compliance to the order passed by this Court. (JNF) |
