JP Company workers protest at Baglihar power house | | | Early Times Report
BANIHAL, June 15: Hundreds of workers of Jay Pee Associates(JP) company staged a protest demonstration to press for their demands at Power house of Baglihar project at Chanderkote in district Ramban on Monday. The protesting workers threatened indefinite strike. However after intervention of District adminstration, police and company management, the workers called off their strike for fifteen days. Reports said that the construction of the Baglihar project stage - II is going is in final stage and the workers engaged with the company are demanding advance agreement with them for their final compensation which company has to paid workers on completion of the project. The workers accused their leaders Chenab power project workers union( CHPPWU) of inaction. They said that union leaders are not interested in making taking up the matter with the company. The workers said that they have requested the leaders to take up the matter but to no avail. Workers said that the company has not paid their provident fund amount to their PF accounts from last fifteen months. Workers shouting slogans against the company management and in favour of their demands and CPIM leader and MLA kulgam Mohammad yousf Targmi. They said that the Targami is the leader of labour community and he should intervene in to the matter personally. The union leaders said that negotiations with the company are going on. They said that workers staged protest today without consulting the union. However officers of JP company management when contacted said that their work is on final stage and they were hopeful for stage third of the project but still it is not declared by Government. They said even as the maximum work has been completed, they still accommodate them. They said the labourers will get all the facilities. |
