PYS concludes training in traditional, folk art | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 15: The training in traditional and folk art of Duggar organized by Progressive Youth Society (Regd) Ramnagar, Udhampur district in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Government of Indian concluded today here at Standard Institute of Education, Roun Domel Udhampur. In the valedictory function, Dr. Gurdit Singh, former Director Agriculture was the Chief Guest whereas Prof. Hans Raj Sharma was the guest of honour. Romesh Chander, Senior Fellowship awardee from Ministry of Culture presided over the valedictory function. The function started with the welcome address by Manoj Kumar Sharma 'Nishchint' President of PYS followed presentation by trainee students of standard institute who performed folk dance and songs of Duggar Pradesh. In his address, Chief Guest said that such trainings will be helpful in conserving and promoting folk cultures which is the need of hour. Prof Hans Raj said that in present scenario, this training is more significant as new generation is going away from the traditions and folk culture. Romesh Chander cited many relevant of old traditions about which younger generation remains ignorant. Prominent among others were Sat Pal Sharma, Chairman, Sr Lecturer in Physics, Chain Singh, Balbir Singh, Charan Das Sharma, Sanjay Sharma. |
