Jammu, June 15 : GDC GOOL organized a poster competition on the topic "Seven Billion Dreams, One Planet, Consume with Care" in the college premises on the eve of World Environment Day. A total of 12 students from different schools of Gool, ITI and GDC Gool participated in this competition. Kefayat Ajaz of Garden Model Academy Gool, Shaziya Allahi of Moral Society Of Education Gool & Mohd Shafiq-Uz-Zaman Wani of Garden Model Academy Gool, were adjudged 1st ,2nd, 3rd respectively by a panel of judges comprising of Bhushan Kumar, Touseef Ahmad Zargar and Ashwani Kumar.
The participants were given prizes by Dr. Chander Shekhar, Principal of the college and while speaking on the occasion, he apprised the students about the inevitable threats to the environment by human imprints like unpredictable environment changes, melting of Himalayan glaciers, unprecedented temperature fluctuations, emergence of various air borne diseases and highest ever concentration of CO2 in air in recent history which is due to fossil fuel use in excess either for industries or for transportation. He advised the students to use local transport, use less AC, plant at least one tree and work together to save planet. A plantation drive was also organized in the college premises by the Principal and staff of the college. |
