6/16/2015 1:18:24 AM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, June 15: The sick infants and children of Kashmir Valley are suffering for want of a fully fledged facility of a Children Hospital because of a politico beaurocratic apathy and people at helm of affairs with vested interests. It was on 18/05/2012 when government of India and State government, announced a 300 bedded new Children Hospital in Srinagar following an uproar on death of 358 children G.B. Pant Hospital.
According to a statement issued three years have passed since then the proposal is still gathering dust in files. The authorities are delaying the execution of this vital project at times on the pretext of difference of opinion in location of the Hospital, at times on the pretext of architectural design and at other times paucity of funds. The need of the hour is to have an Institute of Child Health in Srinagar wherein all facilities required for sick new born babies , infants and children are available under one roof. The new Children Hospital should have facilities of Pediatric subspecialties so that people don't have to suffer in seeking the diagnosis and treatment from outside the State. Existing Pediatric G.B Panth Hospital has a bed capacity of only 125 beds. Often sick children are seen on a single bed in multiple numbers. Due to tremendous load on the hospital the patient management is getting tough day by day. CSFK holds the existing team of Doctors in high spirit and regard for working 24 X 7 with limited bed space and facilities. How seriously the government is taking pediatric hospital and health care of children gets visible by this fact also that since last five months the hospital does not even have a full flegged Medical Superintendent (M/S). CSFK appeals to government to immediately ensure hospital has a full flegged M/S with a clean, Honest and dedicated past records. Post 2014 devastating flood G.B. Pant Hospital is crumbling due too space constraint, ever increasing rush of patients and lack of facilities.
Civil Society Forum Kashmir (CSFK) strongly advocates for establishment of new Children Hospital in Srinagar on an urgent basis at a suitable location which will cater to the needs of children of Kashmir Valley for atleast nest 25 years. We hope the HonorableCM , Mufti Mohammed Syed, will not allow the vested interests to sabatogethis vital project. CSFK wants to make it public that even funds where received from Government of India for the pediatric hospital and people of Kashmir have every right to know what had happen to those funds.
Civil Society Forum Kashmir strongly advocates that the decision about the location of pediatric hospital should be taken in consultation with the experts in GMC/ SKIMS , pediatric doctors of the valley.
Civil Society Forum Kashmir appeals to Honorable Chief Minister Mufti Syed Sahab, Union Health Minister, Health and Medical Education and various departments of J&K state to ensure the justice with the lakhs of Children's of Kashmir& Ladakh province.
