srinagar, July 8: Hundreds of students pursuing different Para-medical courses Wednesday staged a massive protest against what they called 'corrupt' practices followed by college authorities. They appealed anti-graft agencies to take suo-moto action in the case and probe the matter thoroughly. Amid slogans against college management, large number of male and female students pursuing various courses viz. FMPHW, MMPHW, OTA, Lab Assistant, X-Ray technician, pharmacy courses at National Institute of Health Education NIHE & ITI (NIHE-ITI located at Tengapora, Bypass in Batamaloo Srinagar staged a massive protest here today. Agitating students alleged that college authorities were demanding extra fee from them. "When we secured admission, we were asked to pay fee in entire fee for two year for the respective courses, they said adding, "it is beyond doubt that college authorities now have resorted to corrupt practices as for the same course, some students were charged Rs 11,000, some Rs 15,000 others Rs 9,000/-. Accusing being cheated, the protestors alleged that again to their surprise authorities after completing two year courses, provided certificate for six month course only which means the authorities have charged 18 months extra fee from the students. Protestors also lamented that to their surprise the course certificates issued by the College are not recognized by any institution. Amid anti-college authorities slogans, the students appealed anti-graft bodies to take suo-moto cognizance of the case and investigate the matter thoroughly. Meanwhile repeated attempts to contact the head of the College Abdullah Chattwal turned futile as all his contact number remained out of touch. |
