Separatists, Pak join hands to ruin Eid festivities, disrupt Amarnath Yatra | | Mukul Kesavan | 7/9/2015 12:08:44 AM |
| Early Times Report Jammu, July 8: With just a few days left for Eid-ul-Fitr, separatists have yet again decided to disrupt the normal life by calling for yet another chalo on July 13 to pay homage to so called July 13 martyrs of 1931. Separatists who claim to be the self styled representatives of the people know it very well that authorities won't allow the march and restrictions would be put in place to thwart the so called march, which this time around would be a collective programme of both the Hurriyat factions led by hardliner Syed Ali Shah Geelani, and Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the militant turned so-called "Ahinsa-Vadi" Mohammad Yasin Malik. Sources told Early Times that separatists are under tremendous pressure from their bosses sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) to somehow trigger unrest in Kashmir so that ongoing Amarnath Yatra is disrupted and 2010 like situation is recreated. "We have got inputs that all the three groups Hurriyat (G), Hurriyat (M) and JKLF are trying to put their act together and regroup their activists to stir trouble in Kashmir and somehow disrupt the Eid celebrations," said a police official. He said that separatists are planning to somehow vitiate the atmosphere so that situation on Eid day remains tense and along with it the ongoing Amarnath Yatra gets disturbed. "Police have intensified search operations in the volatile areas of Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla. Police have arrested dozens of habitual stone pelters and their local ring leaders who orchestrate the street protests. Security agencies are well aware about the plans of the separatists and every possible effort is being made to keep these trouble mongers at bay," said a source. He said as per the intercepts and the telephonic conversations which separatists have held with their handlers sitting across the LoC, every possible effort is being put to put Kashmir on fire before Eid. "Separatists calling for a joint march on July 13 would be the first attempt towards shattering peace, while separatists have kept a plan-B ready that if they don't succeed on July 13, they would make another attempt on July 17 one day before Eid-ul-Fitr to create trouble," the source added. Pertinently, Qasim Faktoo, who is serving life imprisonment at Central Jail Srinagar, had recently issued a statement directing the Hurriyat dove Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to invite all the separatists, including Geelani, Yasin Malik and others to Jamia Masjid in Srinagar's old city on last Friday of the ongoing month of Ramadan to address the people. Even during this holy month trouble mongers on many occasions have fought pitched battles with the security forces after the Friday prayers and have also left no opportunity to hoist the Pakistan and IS flags to provoke the force personnel. "Hundreds of people are expected to visit Jamia Masjid in old city on the occasion of Jumat-ul-Vida (July 17-Eid eve) and if these separatists assemble there and deliver fiery speeches there is every possibility of atmosphere getting vitiated and situation taking an ugly turn," said an official. "Any untoward incident one day before Eid can set Kashmir on fire. This is the plan which separatists are working on to appease their bosses sitting across the LoC," the official added. He claimed that police and security agencies are aware about the plans of separatists and all the precautionary measures have been put at place to foil the designs of the trouble mongers. |
