udhampur, July 8: Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur conducted three days course on "Gender Justice and Role of Police". The objectives to organizing the course was to sensitize the police force, which is primarily male dominated, regarding their duties and responsibilities towards the women, also to identify the areas where gender inequality is practiced and to evolve the strategy to tackle the problem with in the legal provisions. In pursuant to these objectives Sher-I-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur under the guidance of Director Rajesh Kumar, IPS IGP conducted three day course on Gender Justice and Role of Police which was coordinated by Kamal Sharma, CPO and in which officers of Jammu And Kashmir Police from the rank of ASI to SP's participated. The course was inaugurated by Dr. Poonam Dhawan, Dir. Deptt. Of Lifelong Learning and Centre for Women Studies University of Jammu and the resource persons included Dr. Manisha Kohli, Prof. Govt. College for Women Gandhi Nagar Jammu, Dr. Vishwa Raksha, Associate Prof. Jammu University, Dr. Vandana Sharma, Director School languages and Literature Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Anil Gandotra, Sr.PO and Kamal Sharma CPO SKPAU. The topics deliberated upon during three day course were Gender Sensitization- meaning and importance, Problems faced by women due to domestic violence, Girl Child's right, Domestic violence, Role of Police and Society, Nirbhaya case, the torch bearer for the change in penal laws relating to crime against women, legal provisions, atrocities against women during various phases of life and role of police. |
