JAMMU, July 8: Simula Beating Shastri Cricket Club by 60 runs, the formidable side of Simula Club today qualified for the finals of the Monsoon Tri-Series Cricket League underway at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here. Now, Simula shall be playing against J&K Police in the title clash slated to be held on July 10 at 11.30 am at the same venue. In today's league tie, Simula outplayed Shastri Club by a big margin of 60 runs. Batting first, Simula set a huge target of 266 runs in the stipulated 35 overs losing their seven wickets, which, in reply, Shastri could not chase and lost all their wickets for 206 runs in 34.3 overs. First class cricketer and former J&K skipper, Hardeep Singh played magnificent innings of 104 runs while another former state skipper, Dhruv Mahajan added 78 runs. Puneet played fine innings of 22 runs. From Shastri Club, Amit Sharma emerged as most successful bowler who clinched three wickets. Varun, Vishal Rana and Vishal Singh shared apiece each. Later, Shastri Club could make 206 runs in 34.3 overs to lose the tie by a margin of 60 runs. Arvind top scored with 42 runs, followed by Deepak (33) and Amit Sharma (29). From Simula, Mohit Puri bowled well taking away four wickets. Hardeep Singh and Vikram took two wickets each. For his match winning innings, Hardeep Singh was adjudged man of the match. Today's match officiated by Suhail Yusuf and Sandeep Manchanda as umpires while Vinod Kandayara was scorer. Deputy Director Prosecution, RPHQ Jammu, Parshotam Sharma was chief guest in today's match, who interacted with the teams. |
