High Level Committee will Inquire about the failure of 44 Chutuk Hydle Project: Dr Nirmal Singh

KARGIL, July 8: The Deputy Chief Minister of J&K Dr Nirmal Singh along with Principal Secretary Power, Sandeep K Nayak today visited 44 MW Chutuk Hydle Project along with Chairman J&K Legislative Assembly Haji Anayat Ali, Executive Councilors of LAHDC Kargil, MP Ladakh Thupstan Tsewang Deputy Commissioner, District Officer and officials of NHPC and had on the spot detail inspection of the problems occurred in the project owing to the non generation of power since 28th of June 2015. On this occasion, NHPC officials briefed the Dy CM that the unit started vibration due to shortage of required Load for the Units of the Project owing to which one unit of the project broke down and water flooded into the project. Later the Dy CM called a meeting of the LAHDC, District Administration and NHPC during which Executive Councilor Power, Ghulam Rasool Nagvi awared the DY CM that the inner Grid system and Transmission Lines under RGGVY, implemented by NHPC is a great lose to the society, as all the equipments and material use for construction of Grid or transmission line etc are sub standard which is yet to be accomplished and is leading to shortage of required Load for the Project.
During the meeting Chairman J&K legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali directed for completing the Transmission line between Leh and Kargil so that power shortage due to such big problems in both the district can be sort out easily.
MP Ladakh, LAHDC Kargil and leaders of BJP Kargil demanded for constituting a high level commission/committee to inquire about the implementation of the RGGVY Scheme in Kargil as well as Leh and the materials used by NHPC, for construction the Grids and Transmission Lines are substandard.
Later Dr Nirmal Singh while interacting with All India radio Kargil said that the Government is going to frame a High Level Committee to find out the reason behind the failure of 44 MW Chutuk Hydle Project as well as inquire about other reasons for its failure.
He further assured the people of Kargil that Government of J&K has made proper arrangements of HSD for uninterrupted Power Supply during the Holy Month of Ramadan and will make arrangements to continue the services till the Chutuk Hydle Project starts working. He also assured that Chutuk Project will start working again in the month of August. 44 Mw Chutuk Hydle Project is not generating Electricity since 28th of June 2015, as the Project has been flooded due to break down of one Unit of the Project and water has been flooded upto 12 meter, submerging 3 floors of the project.
