Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated with gaiety, religious fervor across Jammu region

Jammu, July 18: Eid-ul-Fitr marking the culmination of fasting month of Ramdhan was celebrated with religious fervor and gaiety across the Jammu region today.
All the mosques were fully decorated and markets witnessed huge rush of people purchasing sweets, gifts, clothes and exchanging Eid greetings with each other. There was huge rush of people in city ,mosques and Eidgah to offer Eid prayers this morning.
The biggest religious congregation held at Eidgah Residency Road where thousands of Muslims offered Eid-ul-Fitr Nimaz.
The members of Muslim community attired in white dress were seen from the morning exchanging Eid greetings to each other and members of other communities. The children were busy in getting Eidi from their elders.
Though all ministers celebrated Eid in Kahsmir Valley, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Ghulam Ahmed Mir offered Eid prayers here at Malik Market Narwal. He also extended Eid greetings to the people on the occasion. Later talking to media Mir said ``Eid-ul-Fitr which marks the culmination of holy month of Ramzan teaches us self control which in turn makes us good human beings''. He said ``let us pray that this festival brings the State out of present mess so that its old glory is restored and people live in complete peace and harmony''.
The Muslims also exchanged wishes, sweets and gifts with people from all walks of life on the occasion.
Elaborate arrangements were made by the administration for celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr festival across the Jammu division.
Meanwhile the reports of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations also poured from different parts of the Region. In Ramban district, all the mosques werefully decorated suiting the occasion and markets witnessed festive look. The main congregation took place at Jamia Masjid Sharif where thousands of devotees performed Nimaz-e-Eid. The Eid Namaz was also offered at various mosques of the town and its outskirts including, Chandrog, Maitra and Upper Ramban and Muslims prayed for peace, development and prosperity of the people of State and nation.
The SSP, Ramban Randeep Kumar along with officers of district administration felicitated the Muslim brethren and exchanges Eid greetings.
Eid was also celebrated at Rajouri, Poonch, Mendhar, Koternaka, Budhal, Dharhal, Thana Mandi, Manja Kote, Surankote, Mendhar, Kalakote, Reasi, Goole Arnas, Kathua, Bani, Billawar and Basholi, Udham,pur and Banihal , Doda, Kishtwar and Bhadarwah today.
The biggest congregation was seen at Eidgah Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar and Banihal where thousands of Muslims offered Eid prayers.
Meanwhile Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Parkash Ganga today visited several Idgahs in Samba district and extended Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to Muslim brethren.
The Minister, while exchanging warm greetings with the Muslims at Sarore Adda, Taile Basti, Barjani, Shah Talab, Badori Eidgahs and other mosques expressed optimism that the day would further cement the bonds of love and amity among the people of all faiths. He said that such pious occasions provide us an opportunity to introspect and pure our thoughts and deeds enabling us create a better world to live in. MLA Jammu East, Rajesh Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Simrandeep Singh, other senior functionaries of civil and police administration were also present on the occasion and exchanged Eid-ul Fitr greetings with Muslim brethren at Eidgah Jammu and prayed for peace and tranquility in the State. They said that such religious occasions help in cementing the bonds of love and brotherhood among different sections of the society.
