Early Times Report Jammu, July 18: An Engineer, who is posted in a government department in Jammu district, has purchased a plot of 12 kanals at a prime location for Rs 6 cr near a private college on the Kunjawani-Bishnah road. The land, purchased by him for Rs 50 lakh per kanal, has been registered in the name of Engineer’s mother-in-law who hails from Bhaderwah, according to sources privy to the deal. He was alleged to have purchased more plots in Jammu district in the name of his relatives, sources said. However, following the controversies, that surrounded him during his earlier posting in Jammu, the previous government had transferred him outside Jammu but with the help of a BJP minister's brother-in-law, "he has again managed his posting in Jammu and heads an important construction wing", the sources added. Sources said he first purchased 3.19 kanals of land on the Kunjwani-Bishnah road but later purchased more land adjoining this plot. "At present, he owns a total of 12 kanal of land there," the sources added. "He would be running some business activity from this land and may soon take an initiative in this regard," sources said. After purchasing the land, he got it fenced through his two-three "favourite" contractors who had also helped him to strike the deal. "The deal was finalised with the land owner with the help of these contractors," sources informed. Sources said after the Engineer made the payment to the land owner, the plot was immediately fenced and registered in the name of his mother-in-law. "The officer enjoys the blessings of a BJP minister through the latter's brother-in-law," the sources added. |
