KATHUA, July 18:People hailing from border areas today sought 5 marlas of plot at safer places as promised by Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) during campaign for parliamentary and Assembly elections to woo the voters. People appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that he must announce such a relief package so as to end their miseries once and for all.Intermittent cross border firing at Arnia sector has spread tentacles of terror among people in the border areas of Bobiya, Kathua, Pansar etc who used to migrate from native villages to relief camps during previous cease fire incidents. It is relevant to mention here that Union government made promise to allot 5 marlas plots to each family hailing from forward villages of border areas. Dr Jitendra Singh, Member of Parliament from Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency and Union MoS in PMO also announced to allot plots when firing occurred few months ago but nothing that sort of happened so far. After ceasefire violation at Arnia sector, the Border Security Force (BSF) as a precautionary measure cautioned farmers not to venture into their fields and move towards safer places. With no option left, the Villagers abandoned fields during harvesting period and shifted their families to safer places again. Romesh Chander, a local, said firing at Arnia sector has gripped people of Hiranagar sector with a sense of fear. |
