JKESWA continues struggle for OROP | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, July 18: The Jammu and Kashmir Ex-Services Welfare Association (JKESWA) continued their agitation Dharna for the 30th day in support of the main demand regarding early implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP) under the leadership of Col P.L Choudhary, Founder Chairman of the Association at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Kathua. Founder Chairman of the Association Col Choudhary, who led the protest while addressing the protestors said that there is huge difference in the pension given to those retired person who retired before 01 Jan 2006 and those who retired after that day. He said the Prime Minister had promised to implement OROP in his speech at Ex-servicemen Rally at Rewari and thereafter also on several occasions. "Even Defence Minister has given assurance to vetern on several occasions for implementation of OROP, he said adding, "even the Parliament has passed the OROP during December 2014 but reasons for non-issue of Govt order for implementation of OROP are beyond comprehension." Meanwhile showing solidarity with the OROP movement a large numbers veterans who had participated in 1962, 1965, 1971 and Kargil war participated in the protest. Speakers appealed to the Govt to announce the Date of implementation of One Rank One Pension at the earliest and also cautioned Govt failing so the ongoing stir further will be intensified |
