"ACHCHE DIN" A Misnomer | | Yajin Bhatt | 7/19/2015 12:05:17 AM |
| India is the seventh largest and the second most populous nation of the world. With the population of around 125Cr. it is the proud nation for being the largest democracy of the world. This country has a long history spanning over 5000 years of human habitation and a rich cultural heritage handed down by the native pre-Aryan, the Aryan and the ones which came from outside. Right from Mohenjo-Daro to this current day various rulers and subsequent rules have shaped this great nation. Historically, India has been a hospitable land to numerous immigrants. The cultural patterns of these alien settlers have over the past many centuries been interwoven with the native culture to give rise to India's glorious cultural heritage. Today's India right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Gujarat to northeast was yesteryears Bharat with its vast and extensive boundaries stretching from Iraq to Bangladesh and Russia to Srilanka in south. As mentioned in our political Bible- our Constitution, till date India has gone through 21 periods and each period creating a history of its own. These periods were Mohenjo-Daro, Vedic, Epic, Mahajanpadas, Maurayan, Gupta, Medieval, Muslim rulers, British, Indian freedom movement. During these periods India was named and renamed according to the sweet will and wish of the respective rulers. The diversity in religions, cultures, and racial groups lent a unique oneness to India as a nation. This concept of unity has been the running thread among the diversified Indian union. The Vedic civilization around 1700- 650BC has been an important landmark in the history of ancient India. The sacred language of Sanskrit evolved in this age much before the scripts appeared around 3000 BC in the Egypt and Mesopotamia. The great Vedas left by them to the posterity, through some light on their political, social and religious institutions and beliefs. According to Rig Veda written around 10 century BC certain codes of conduct where followed in this age, as evident from Vedas and other scriptures the man of this age was basically a Hunter, conqueror and predator. He worshiped almost every element and aspect of nature like Earth, Trees, Fire, Moon, Stars etc. Aryans, the protagonists of Vedic age intermingled with the local people that are Dravidians and historical synthesis was worked out between them, giving rise to a new culture which was devoted to Mother Nature. This brought immense prosperity paving way for the ACHCHE DIN. The famous epics of Ramayana & Mahabharata were penned down in this age. The great Upnisheda is yet another gift of this era. Though kingship was heredity but rulers were more devoted to nation and its people. The king was the highest authority with the powers to Punish and Pardon, The rituals became more elaborate. Even though, horse racing, hunting, gambling etc were introduced during this period, but all were governed by ethics, morals and humanity. There after number of kingdoms emerged, spreading across the Indo-gangetic which were known as "sixteen Mahajanpadas" derived from the Sanakrit word meaning great country. the concept of states, republics were already practiced in Vedic India much before the western scholars like Weber and Roth made it known to the world in the modern times. Unfortunately, as the time advanced the materialism overpowered the humanity. The love and respect for the fellow beings started vanishing, while hatred and individualistic, selfishness started to take its bitter head out. Today's common man yearns for those good old days- Achche Din. The term Achche Din kept on echoing vehemently in almost every sane heart right from the recent Loksabha elections, when the PM Mr. Modi repeatedly used this word, in almost each of his election rally. Giving a deep thought, this word is actually a misnomer. Achche Din cannot trickle down from heaven by some instant magic. It is the people, every single individual and every community who has to turn this into reality. The deep introspection of our own lives is a must to move forward as learning from our shortcomings, gives a lot of experience and confidence to move ahead. We need to awaken and honest being within ourselves. As our Prime minister rightly said that today we find exclusively shop of "Shudh Ghee Ki Dukaan". What does this imply? Simply that adulterated Ghee is also available in the markets, questioning the very basic ethics of our social structure. The swachh Bharat Abhayan started by Honble PM should be appreciated by one and all. Filth of every kind is dangerous for our existence. Influenced by the concept of "Swachh Bharat Abhayan" one businessman dealing in dairy products stopped giving milk and other products in poly-bags. The people blindly stopped purchasing the dairy products from this shop, just for the sake of their own convenience. They didn't bother to give a single thought about the pollution caused due to such Poly-bags. There is a great need to change the mindset of the people. swachh Bharat Abhayan should not remain just a nationwide cleanliness campaign run by the govt. of India but it should become part and parcel of our everyday lives. It will not only attract the tourists but will also reduce the health hazards as well. It will give rise to many business opportunities and certainly result in countries GDP growth. Undoubtedly, swachh Bharat Abhayan in real sense is the great beginning of ACHEHE DIN. It is the time to change our" Look to west" attitude rather west should look to our great country. So people need to take pride in "made in India" concept. A great turnaround is needed in this respect. Our public figures should endorse their home made products rather than foreign things. A person should take pride in wearing a HMT watch rather than any foreign brand with same features. To achieve this aim Govt. of India should facilitate the Indigenous industries by way of providing standardized, technological backups and incentivize them to promote such Indian projects and products. The R&D houses should be upgraded so that our products and services should be comparable in the international market. Today our country is indebted with a heavy loan amount and the interest rate approximately Rs 1186 Cr per day, which makes Rs 81 Lakhs per minute. The whole country need to take the challenge head-on rather than forwarding to next generations. Both the people and the govt. being honest to each other can work wonders. But the problem lingers because the society as a whole lacks honesty and nobility. People look for the shortcuts and corrupt means to meet their ends. Earlier few professions like education and health services were called Nobel, these sectors were denominated to serve the people but unfortunately such professions have become means of minting money out of the pockets of the helpless people. Politics was a part of social service and a politician was considered a social servant but in the modern times this field has become synonymous with fraud, treachery and character default. The vision of Acheche Din is not a myth the nation should be indebted to Hon'ble PM Modi for not only installing the seeds of Acheche Din in our minds but also taking regular initiatives in that direction undoubtedly, every great and commanding moment in the annals of the world is the triumph of some enthusiasm. Patriotism and zeal to elevate our country can surely bring back those good days as experienced in the Vedic times. The politicians too need to rise above the political differences and stop lashing out at each other to help the nation rise from abysmal darkness. Every element of social structure, need to work hand in hand, to contribute at its level best in this direction. The programs like Swachh Bharat Abhayan, PM Jan Dhan Yojana, International Yoga day etc. have already started yielding results with Indian voice getting its recognition in the international platforms like UN, BRICS and G20 etc. The day will not be far away when the dream of Achche din will turn into reality provided the whole nation remains true and honest in contributing towards this goal. |
