JAMMU, July 18 : All Jammu and Kashmir Chess Association has been allotted this year's 41st National Sub-junior for boys and 32nd National Sub-junior for girls tournaments to be held in Jammu in the month of September. This was disclosed by president of the Association, Atul Gupta in an interaction with media here this morning. Atul was accompanied in the press briefing by vice president, Baldev Raj. Chief organising secretary, Taranvir Singh Gujral and coordinator, Vikas Nanda were also present. "Around 350 participants, including over 100 team officials, representing various states of the country are expected to report for this nine-day long competition to be held for team and open championships," said Atul Gupta. The event is scheduled to be held from September 21 to September 29 at a private accommodation on Akhnoor road, near here. "For comfortable stay of the participants during the competition, we have almost finalized a centrally air-conditioned venue," mentioned vice president of the Association, Baldev Raj. The event will be played under FIDE Laws of Chess in Swiss system wherein a total of 11 rounds shall be played. And, the total cash prizes for this championship shall be worth Rs two lakh in addition to title trophies and certificates of merit and participation. "Since, the event is of national repute among junior players, top 20 games will be shown live on internet. Besides, top six boys and an equal number of girls out of this event shall be sponsored for the abroad tours in Europe and Russia by the All India Chess Federation," disclosed chief organising secretary, Taranvir Singh Gujral. Meanwhile, divulging more details, coordinator, Vikas Nanda said, "The registration of players shall start from August one at Hotel Nek, Below Gummat, here.
