Pak ceasefire violations aimed at unsettling Mufti & Modi regimes | | | What is the rationale behind repeated ceasefire violations by the Pakistani troops? Panic or Pakistan's bid to keep the Kashmir issue alive. Panic because the establishment and the Army in Pakistan continue to be under severe pressure from terrorists of various hues. Hence the Army wants to divert the attention of people from the real problems and the basic menace of terrorism in Pakistan by targeting Indian border outposts and villages on the International Border in Jammu sector. One can imagine the ferocity of the ceasefire violations by the Pakistani Rangers when they targeted some border villages besides the border outposts on Tuesday in which one youth was killed. Panic gripped various sectors on the International Border in Jammu province on Tuesday after Pakistani forces resorted to ceasefire violations by targeting a number of Indian border outposts. What seems to have worried the Government and the Indian security agencies is the way Pakistani forces have been indulging in repeated incidents of ceasefire violations on the LoC and on the IB in Jammu and Kashmir during the last over six months. What heightened the level of panic was the killing of a youth in the Pakistani fire. Reports said a youth was killed when Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire by targeting border out posts and border hamlets by resorting to firing and mortar shelling along the IB in Jammu district on Tuesday. The Pakistani Rangers resorted to firing of small arms and mortar shells on BoPs along IB in Kanachak and Pargwal sectors of Jammu district from 5:40 am. They targeted 12 BoPs along IB in these sectors. The Pakistani Rangers also shelled border hamlets in these sectors, in which a 22-year-old Sanjay Kumar was killed when a Pakistani shell exploded in Hamirpur Kona in Pargwal belt of Jammu. Mortar shelling has also triggered panic among people living in Kanachak and Pargwal forward areas. There were reports that Pakistan had fired on BoPs in R S Pura belt, they said. There have been eight ceasefire violations by the Pakistani Rangers in August. On August 2 and 3, the Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire four times by resorting to small arms firing in forward posts along LoC in Krishnagati, Mandi, Balakote and Pallanwala sectors of Poonch and Jammu districts. There were two ceasefire violations on August 1.The Pakistani Rangers also resorted to firing of mortar bombs on border out posts along the International Border in R S Pura sector in Jammu district on Saturday night. They violated the ceasefire by resorting to small arms firing and mortar shelling on 3 BoPs along the IB in Akhnoor sector in Jammu district on Monday. Well eight ceasefire violations in a matter of four days cannot be taken lightly by India. It is in this context that the Indian forces, deployed on the LoC and on the IB, have been directed to retaliate with force and fury each and every ceasefire violation by the Pakistani troops and the Rangers. The way the Pakistani Rangers have targeted border outposts and villages on this side of the International Border indicates that the agencies across the border were trying to push groups of militants into the Jammu region for kicking up tension. As compared to the Kashmir valley the region of Jammu has remained peaceful during the last over seven months which seems to have upset the agencies across the border. By pushing groups of militants into the region of Jammu under the fire cover the Pakistani agencies plan to derail peace so that in both the major regions of the state there were incidents of violence which could force New Delhi to settle the Kashmir issue. Security experts are right when they say that another purpose behind repeated ceasefire violations by the Pakistani forces was to prevent the Modi led Government in India and the Mufti led Government in Jammu and Kashmir from settling and from carrying out people-friendly policies and programmes. Already New Delhi has, for the time being, refused to engage Kashmir separatists in talks and the Pakistani agencies were trying to create conditions which may force New Delhi to resume talks with Kashmir separatists and with Islamabad. Whatever may be the basic purpose behind repeated ceasefire violations the only way to end it was to give free hand to the Indian troops for dealing with the situation by retaliating with force and fury. |
