Jammu agitates for AIIMS, BJP Minister's brother attempts to encroach upon Government land | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 5: At a time when entire Jammu province has been agitating against alleged betrayal by Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) a brother of cabinet Minister, has been attempting to encroach upon land on the banks of rivulet, throwing the standing orders of High Court, prohibiting construction works upto 200 meters of river banks. Sources informed Early Times that already vast stretches of government land in Taraf Majli area, which falls along road starting from Capt Sunil Singh Chowk to Dreamland park area. "Enjoying strong political patronage, the said cabinet Minister and his brothers had grabbed several Kanals of land, which was otherwise on the name of a senior politician of Kathua and recently some portion of land was sold by the Minister's family to a businessmen of Jammu", sources said. They further said that after selling the land to businessmen, a brother of cabinet Minister on Wednesday brought earth movers and started digging up the rivulet to raise basement of a big structure", sources said, adding that two months back also, another brother of Minister had been raising a building adjoining to same spot and despite HC standing directions, none from District administration took action. "It was only after a contempt petition filed in HC that construction was stopped. But it is only after a gap of few days that another brother of Minister start attempting to grab land under the nose of District administration", sources said. They further alleged that it was only due to strong political patronage that none dared to raise voice against these encroachers and vast land has been encroached in various area of Kathua. Chief Executive Officer of Kathua Municipal Council Santosh Kotwal admitted that brother of local cabinet Minister had brought earth movers. "We stopped the JCB from doing any work and asked the brother of Minister to produce documents if the land is under his name", he said, adding that until documents would not be furnished, no one would be allowed to do any construction. Tehsildar Kathua Avtar Singh Jasrotia said that he would send a team to the spot and took appropriate action. Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Atul Gupta said that he would take necessary action, after proper enquiry. |
