Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 5: Wednesday's terror attack on Jammu-Srinagar national highway has stunned security and intelligence agencies because belt the track from Udhampur to Ramban is considered as safest ever stretch as far as terrorism in concerned but after attack all the agencies, including premier intelligence agency, are clueless. Aim of the terrorists was, of course, to target Amarnath Yatra which they failed to accomplish their evil designs but this incident have exposed all agencies. It is still a mystery how terrorists managed to reach Samroli which is neither located near the border nor a hotbed of militancy. Credible sources in the police are not ruling out involvement of some locals in this incident because without support of some natives it is difficult rather impossible to reach at Samroli which is just 15 to 20 kilometers away from Udhampur town. Catching alive a terrorist from Pakistani is big achievement but cops are still clueless how these terrorists reached Udhampur. It was really a very serious matter and security agencies are working get a lead but of no avail so far. A top police officer, who wished not to be quoted, said that attack by terrorists at Samroli on Jammu-Srinagar national highway was a very very serious matter which reflects that terror groups were penetrating into new areas which were earlier free from terrorism. Meanwhile interrogation of the nabbed terrorist was going on. "Preliminary questioning has revealed that the terrorist, Usman Naved, is from Faislabad in Pakistan," Danish Rana, Inspector General of Police Jammu, told a news channel. . Maulana Masood Azhar of the Jaish-e-Mohammad terror group is believed to have a strong influence in that region. The terrorist is believed to have told interrogators that his name is Mohammad Naved. In a video shot on a cellphone, he said he and another terrorist had been in India for 12 days. Comparisons are being drawn to Kasab, the only Pakistani terrorist caught alive after the 26/11 attacks. Kasab was hanged in 2012. Usman, 22, is being interrogated. "We will ask him what route he had taken, what was his target, why they targeted BSF..." Rana said. Naved claimed before the media that he entered the Jammu region 12 days ago along with a fellow terrorist identified as Momin Khan. Khan was killed in retaliatory fire by BSF. This is the first suspected Pakistani terrorist to be captured alive after Ajmal Kasab, who was nabbed during the dreaded terror attack in Mumbai in 2008. "I came to kill Hindus," said Naved, dressed in a dark blue shirt and brown trousers, with a relaxed demeanour. He also alleged that Kashmiris were being killed all the time. "It has been 12 days since I came here. We walked all days in the jungle," he said. |
