Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 5:The credibility of the J&K Handicrafts department came under scanner after one Dev Raj Sharma allegedly managed job without submitting his State Subject certificate (PRC) . The mismanagement in the department came to limelight following the disclosure through the RTI. The department itself admitted the fault on their parts. Early Times in its edition 26 Feburary published the same following which the senior officers including Saurabh Bhagat, then Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department assured departmental inquiry and further legal action, but despite of the elapse of six months, the outcome is nowhere in sight. As per sources, a blue-eyed candidate managed a job in the Handicrafts department without submitting his documents. He was appointed as Assistant Craftsman in the department and is presently working in the department's office at Bahu Plaza. As per documents procured through RTI, the said person managed job in the department on 14.8.1998 but he submitted his Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) to department in 1999-2000. The RTI was filed by one Birbal of Bari Brahmana, who alleged aberrations in his appointment. In reply, the Joint Director Handicrafts Jammu through communication No JDHJ /Estt/2956 informed that the as per record available in this office theblue-eyed candidate joined the Handicrafts Department on 14.8.1998 as Assistant Craftsman. The Handicraft department also attached the photocopy of the service book of the said person in which it is clearly mentioned that he submitted his PRC in the year 1999-2000. However, informed sources said that, the candidate's PRC also sparked controversy as at the time when he submitted his PRC, his father's name in the revenue record was different. The alleged fraud came to limelight when sons of the person whose name the candidate had used came to know that their father's name was misused for ulterior motives. They lodged complaint with the revenue authorities, disposal of which is still awaited. Meanwhile, best efforts to find contact number of the Director Handicrafts Gazanfar Ali was not made available for his comment over the issue. |
