Peerzada Ummer Early Times Report srinagar, Aug 5: Amid the uproar about the much hyped JKCA cricket scam, revelations about the association employees' issuing certificates to their kith and kin in order to facilitate their admissions in medical and engineering colleges have stirred the hornet's nest. Top sources within the association told Early Times that some office bearers of the JKCA holding vital posts have accorded the sports certificates to their relatives, which has helped them to get admissions in medical and engineering colleges of the state. "Even without playing a single game, the certificates were provided by some office bearers to their kith and kin. Such a gross violation of norms was done in a bid to pave entry to the medical and engineering professions," sources said. Reports informed that though the government has already been intimated about such a shabby deal which was done in past within the JKCA but so far there no probe has been conducted to ascertain the facts. "As the government is already privy about such scams taking place within the cricket association of Jammu and Kashmir, the action so far is restricted because other feuds are yet to be settled," one of the official while pleading anonymity said, adding that once anything concrete is received by the state government, action will be in the offing. However, sources within the JKCA reveal that the sports category certificates were provided by some of the top office bearers to their relatives and there is reluctance being found somewhere within the system to bring culprits to book or initiate any investigation so that truth could come to fore. There are also reports that certificates, which paved ways for the relatives of JKCA office bearers to qualify competitive exams under sports category, were accorded in such a way that no room was left for anyone to doubt. "There are even documents which suggest that the relatives have played Cricket for the association. They were included as additional players to the 11 original ones so that if anytime a question is raised, documents would come to their rescue," sources divulged. However, after the holding of controversial elections within the JKCA, during which Dr Farooq was removed from President's post, allegations and counter allegations are being leveled in open by the JKCA helmsmen. One such allegation levelled by the 'ousted' President Dr Farooq, in the recent past, was that fake sports certificates have been issued by some JKCA members to their kith and kin. What remains to be seen is how the new government would tackle the crisis which seem to be knocking its door once again and this time with a reason. A reason to make sports an apolitical entity and pure from controversies, nepotism and favouritism. |
