Jammu, Aug 5: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today appealed to the State Finance Minister to allocate special funds to the Jammu provincial heads of PWD, Irrigation and flood control, PDD, PHE to clear all pending dues of daily rated workers. According to press release, president of NMC, Subash Shastri said that these workers had not been getting their monthly wages on regular basis for many years and their working condition was dismal.
Shastri urged Hasseb Drabu to ensure, the release of all pending dues of casual labor working in PWD, Irrigation and flood control, PHE, PDD and other departments of the State Govt. so that working class could get a sigh of relief. In view of forth coming festivals, the Govt. should also fulfill the commitment made to sixty one thousand daily rated workers to absorb them on permanent basic, he added.
Shastri said monthly emoluments of daily wagers should be raised to Rs 10,000 in view of sharp increase in prices of essential commodities.
