KVK organizes service training programme on SHGs 8/6/2015 12:08:27 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 5: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology -Jammu organized service training programme on Self Help Groups (SHGs) for the agricultural officers at SDAOoffice, Reasi. According to press release, more than 20 agricultural extension officers participated in the programme. Dr Banarsi kick-started the programme with the warm welcome of participants. Dr Banarsi Lal elaborated the methods of Self Help Groups (SHGs) formation and maintenance and gave a detailed view of benefits of SHGs. He said that SHGs formation has immense scope in hilly areas and can play a vital role in eradication of poverty from these areas. "He further narrated that farmers specially farm women can start small entrepreneurships at village level by working in groups". He further said that SHGs of farmers/farm women are made by saving the money by the group members which further can be utilized by interloaning at 1 or 2% of rate of interest. He also suggested that SHGs can initiate nursery raining of fruit crops to generate additional income.
