MarH (Jammu), Aug 5: A massive protest demonstration was held by the people Halqa Marh and Congress activists under the leadership of former MLA and General Secretary JKPCC Thakur Balwan Singh to extend its moral support to the ongoing agitation for setting up of independent institution of AIIMS in Jammu. Amid slogans against BJP and in particular against Dy CM Dr Niraml Singh, the protestors also burnt the effigy of the Dy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh and alleged the central and the State Government for taking people of Jammu for ride over AIIMS issue despite an announcement on Feb 28, 2015. Addressing the gathering the prominent people of the area including Thakur Balwan Singh Ex-MLA and General Secretary JKPCC lashed out at the BJP for shifting the AIIMS announced for Jammu in order to strike a deal for sharing power. He said that the BJP stands exposed for its power hungry politics and sheer opportunism which amounts to betrayal of the people of Jammu region and creating wedge between the regions.
Th. Balwan Singh said that there is need for separate AIIMS in Jammu region and the BJP leaders are trying to hoodwink and mislead the people. He said anything short of it would be a great betrayal with the people of Jammu region.
Among those who spoke during protest included Lala Devi Dass, Shamsher Singh Ashwani Sharma, Sodagar Singh Saini, Jagdish Raj Bhagat, Bhushan Sharma, Mohan Singh Chib, Col S N Dogra, S. Manmohan Singh, Darshan Moton and many others. |
