Govt all set to overhaul Relief Organization, Relief Minister to go tough on agents | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 24: Committed to repatriate all over stayed employees in Relief Organization, the Government today in a major shakeup repatriated 45 more employees in the organization to their parent departments. According to official sources these employees had a stay of over two decades in the organization and were ruling the roost. Sources said the coalition government received hundreds of representations from the migrants and some KP organizations demanding complete reshuffle in the Relief Organization for its smooth functioning as the over stayed employees were putting the relief holders and other migrants to many hardships who had managed to maintain a monopoly in the organization for over two decades. They said the previous governments and Relief and Rehabilitation ministers for reasons best known to them had always turned down such requests made by the migrants and Relief and Revenue authorities from time to time regarding a complete reshuffle in the organization. Soon after coming to power, the government decided to overhaul the entire Relief Organization. The employees tried to influence the Altaf Bukhari, the concerned minister went ahead with the plan. Bukhari, it is believed also prevailed upon the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti whom some migrant employees of the organization had tried to approach. Reports said some Muslim Migrants also tried to come to the rescue of the employees. The minister said in case they tried to help the employees a probe shall be initiated into their misdeeds. This also prompted the Muslim migrants to beat a hasty retreat from the ministers' chamber. Sources said after the transfer of over stayed ZOs, Camp commandants and relief assistants in the zones the Government in the third phase will transfer all the over stayed ministerial staff in Relief Commissioner's office for the smooth functioning of the office. Besides the Relief and Rehabilitation Minister has also given instructions to furnish the reports about those retired employees who are working as agents on various zones so that appropriate action under rules can be taken against them. He has also given instructions to relief authorities to curb the actions of other civil agents in the organization and if necessary handover them to police. |
