Professors gulping lakhs, for doing nothing | DDE becomes a leisure destination | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 24: The Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) has turned out to be a place for enjoyment of professors, who have been swallowing lakhs as salary, for doing nothing, raising question over rationale of deputing such professors. Well-placed sources informed Early Times around six professors at DDE causing huge loss to University Exchequer, for doing nothing. "Prof VV Nagendra Rao, Department of Political Science, Dr Neelam Choudhary department of Economics, Prof Sushil Sharma department of Punjabi, Prof Heena Abrol department of History and Prof Yash Pal, B.Ed are getting huge amount for just, teaching 15 classes (Personal Contact Programme) annually", sources informed, adding that the administration deliberately draining several lacs monthly without any reasons. They further said that not a single PG courses out of above mentioned subject is being run by DEE. "For Under-Graduate courses, the management of DDE outsources lecturers, if they (out-sourced) lecturers are manning sessions, by lacs of rupees being spent", they questioned? Ridiculing, vice chancellor claims to bring transparency in functioning of university of Jammu, they said that DDE has turned another autonomous body within the university, where faculty makes rule as their convenience. "Despite availability of experienced faculty for various courses offered by the DDE, the administration outsources manpower to conduct classes, PCPs, evolution of assignments", sources said, adding that the VC should overhaul the rusted faculty of DDE and provide opportunity those who are willing to extend their best among the students. |
