Cancellation of NSA level talks not to affect coalition | BJP to continue to support Mufti | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 24: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has been assured of continuous support of the BJP despite some teething problems that have emerged after the cancellation of the Indo-Pakistan National Security Advisor level talks over the Hurriyat issue. According to the sources, the differences had cropped up between the two parties especially after the arrest of senior Hurriyat leaders on the directions of the Home Ministry who were later released on the intervention of the CM. The incident, it is believed caused some differences within the coalition giving room to speculations that they may part ways. "Mufti Sayeed was personally communicated by the top leadership of the BJP that alliance will continue and BJP will continue to support. CM was also assured that the Central Government will give full cooperation and assistance to his Government," said a senior official. They said to ward off some negative impact of the cancellation of the talks on account of the Hurriyat, the Central Government may announce host of economic measures . The Chief Minister has also been communicated that many steps will be initiated to start major infrastructural development in the state and in Kashmir to give boost to the local economy. "Mufti has also been communicated that apart from the economic measures, the Government will also support him on his political measures including the demand for the revocations of the AFSPA atleast from some areas and some prisoners who are not facing serious charges. The attempt is to give all round support to the Mufti Sayeed, which the BJP and others believe is the only person, who can bring about the change in the political narrative of the Kashmir," said a senior official. |
