Jammu Aug 24: Up in arms against poor health care services in the area, residents of Udhampur held a strong protest demonstration, here today outside District Hospital Udhampur Raising slogans against state government and health minister, the protestors led by the senior National. Conference leader Govind Ram demanded upliftment of existing services at District Hospital Udhampur. Speaking on the occasion, NC Leader satirically said that the District Hospital (DH) Udhampur should be renamed as Referral Hospital as any case which gets registered here is referred to Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu on routine basis courtesy the shortage of doctors. "The availability of better healthcare is bleak here at DH Udhampur as it has no specialists to attend the major cases, NC leader lamented. The protestors have served an ultimatum of eight days and cautioned them if their demands are not met they will took to roads and block National Highway When contacted Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Udhampur Arun Sharma rejected the news of routine referral and said only critical patient are referred to Jammu. |
