Local village head protests over frisking by army in 'sensitive area' | | | Early Times Report
rajouri, Sept 7:While some elements are reportedly are hell bent to force the army and security forces to lower their guards against anti-insurgents on one or the other pretext, a Lamberdar (village head) of village Sandot near Line of Control (LoC) in Balakot Poonch alleged misbehaviour by army for protest against frisking him Army sources said that the lamberdar was not cooperating the authorities (army) in the checking/frisking of the persons/vehicles for the last many days and never comes down out of passenger vehicles for frisking/checking. According reports Lamberdar Arif Khan s/o Jamal Khan resident of village Sandot situated near Line of Control (LoC) in Balakot sector of Poonch district had held a protest and blocked BG-Balakot defence road near an army checking gate for about one hour in resentment against frisking/checking of people/vehicles at this gate,. Meanwhile Lamberdar accused army personnel on duty to have misbehaved with the people who daily cross this gate for their domestic engagements. According to reliable sources said lamberdar also has approached a Court at Mendhar against Naib Subedar B Singh alleging that he has misbehaved with him (lamberdar) during frisking/checking at this gate in the first week of September. This was the second incident when the civilian has resented against Army's frisking /checking at the gates on the road that leads to their villages, situated near LoC . As per intelligence agencies and the officials concerned some anti-social, anti-national elements (including OGWs) are reportedly covertly working in this plan as they want to pressurise Army by adopting such tactics so that army lower its guards so as to felicitate anti-national activities including smuggling of drug/narcotic, fake Indian currency notes, arms & ammunition from across the border. |
