Embarrassment for BJP as party MLAs join hands with Cong, NC to target State Govt | 10 days session of Assembly | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 7: If handout issued by Congress MLA from Inderwal, G M Saroori is to be believed, it is big embarrassment for the ruling BJP because its legislators have joined hands with Congress and National Conference to attack the State Government for conducting Assembly session just for formality sake. G M Saroori issued a handout with Srinagar dateline in which he claimed that a delegation of MLAs met with Speaker Kavinder Gupta and demanded that assembly session should be extended to 20 days to discuss various burning issues people are facing now. Saroori accused PDP-BJP Government of running away from discussing people's problems. Holding the long overdue Assembly session for just 10 days clearly shows how serious and committed the Government is in finding solution to various problems being faced by the people now, averred Saroori. "The Government is scared of discussion on important public issues in the Assembly, that's why it convened a session that will last for only 10 days to fulfill statutory obligation and wash its hands off", said Saroori. The Congress MLA further said that State Government was adopting escapist attitude and looking for escape routes to avoid facing wrath of public representatives. Saroori in his handout claimed that delegation of MLA's including G.M Saroori, Haji Abdul Rashid, Shamima Firdous, Mohd Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmed Wani, Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Mumtaz Khan, Abdul Majid Larmi, Altaf Ahmad Wani, Dr. Krishan Lal (BJP), Muhammad Abbas Wani, Aijaz Ahmad Mir and Davinder Kumar Manyal (BJP) called on Assembly Speaker Kavinder Gupta at his chamber on the Assembly premises here at summer capital Srinagar and urged him either extend the Assembly session or convene a special session of the Assembly in December in winter capital Jammu in view of present precarious situation facing people of Jammu and Kashmir. However, despite repeated attempts BJP MLAs, whose names are mentioned in the Congress MLA's handout, were not available for comment. |
