JU creates 8 posts of Assistant Professors, ignores UGC guidelines | | | Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 7: The Jammu University has reportedly created eight posts of assistant professors to accommodate some blue-eyed candidates, ignoring the norms set by the University Grant Commission (UGC). Sources told Early Times that two posts have been created in Remote Sensing GIS and six in Bio-Chemistry and Micro-Biology with the sanction of the State Government. "Earlier the proposal for sanctioning the eight posts was put before the UCG's 11th plan visit, but it was rejected by the commission", said sources. "There is no provision to sanction positions for self-financed programme under the UGC guidelines, but former Registrar Prof MK Dhar, who is heading both Bio-Chemistry and Micro-Biology, had convinced State Government and got sanctioned the six positions," sources said. They said two positions were also sanctioned for Remote Sensing and GIS-all self-financed programmes which have proved to be burden on the university exchequer. Sources said Prof Dhar, who was Registrar when the Science Congress was hosted by the university, he diverted Rs 3 crore for renovation of centres for the two self-financed programme being run under his supervision. "Renovation of these centers where self-financed programme is run depends on revenue being generated through these programme, but misusing his official position Prof Dhar diverted a huge amount," said sources. Demanding a high-level probe into alleged misconduct of Prof Dhar, sources said that people supposed to be gatekeepers and caretakers of such institutions like JU, are draining the public money. "Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who is also Pro-Chancellor of the university, should order a high-level probe to unearth misdeeds of some vested interests peoples," sources added. |
