NPP leader's allegations create ripples in still waters of AIIMS issue | Union Health Ministry, BJP owe some explanation to Jammu people …! | | Early Times Report jammu, Sept 7: Even as the turbulent times for BJP on AIIMS issue is over, the political tide has not receded fully with political opponents all active and alive to each development in the aftermath of the wound up agitation. Has the party actually cheated upon the people of Jammu or the Union Health Ministry is still under some confusion ...? The questions have raised afresh have haunted the AIIMS issue yet again and if allowed to keep under wraps are bound to create chaos and controversy once more. In the face of fresh controversy raised by a senior politician Harsh Dev Singh, who holds a responsible post in the JKNPP, state unit of BJP as well as the Union Health Ministry owe an explanation, if not a clarification to be made on the issue of establishing of AIIMS in Jammu. For the allegations he made are not the offshoot of any political statement instead made on the basis of what he stated the other day as reply on the RTI he got from the Union Health Ministry. The chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party while alleging that BJP has cheated the people of Jammu region on the issues of AIIMS cited the information he claimed to have received from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in which it has been maintained by the latter that only one AIIMS has been sanctioned for J&K. BJP leadership may well trash it as rubbish and baseless but this is a reason cited from a RTI application and the reply received thereupon .There is a point in the allegation NPP leader has made. Apart from the fact that RTI and the information sought under the application cannot be criticized nor disparaged as mere rubbish a story, the date mentioned in the reply is not on backdate when the stir was on and matter was unsettled. NPP leader has maintained that he received the reply from concerned officer in the ministry late last month, when as per the factual position, BJP had managed to call off the stir by ACC, this time on the basis of a proper announcement, rather than assurance. The announcement was made none other than the Union Health Minister JP Nadda amidst heightened tension in Jammu that Jammu will also get AIIMS, which came as a breaking news much to the relief of state BJP unit. The allegations also carry some weight in the wake of the fact that in his second RTI application, NPP leader claims to have received reply on the status of AIIMS sanctioned for Jammu with 'no such information tag', usually seen in the official replies. There may be some miscommunication and misrepresentation of the facts in the information provided on the RTI by the concerned officials for one or the other reason. That there is politics and a game of one upmanship between the rivals is also well understood. But people have a right to know the actual status of AIIMS for Jammu as the process of land identification which was on fast track earlier seems to have been slowed down for unknown, unexplained reasons. Beyond this, there is no detail coming forth on the progress nor mention of any specifics by the BJP which was too keen on this. ACC too seems to put things on sort of backburner for now. For all these queries , both Health Ministry and BJP need to come with some specific information or else it would be deemed there is some truth in the allegations. |
